One hundred elite lines of maintainers and restorers of "WA" cyto-sterility systems of rice were used to study the correlation and path coefficients. Grain yield showed positive correlation with plant height, days to maturity, number of spikelets per panicle, number of fertile spikelets per panicle and 1000-grain weight. Path analysis indicated that the number of panicles per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield followed by number of fertile spikelets per panicle and 1000-grain weight. Direct effect of plant height and days to maturity were positive but low. One thousand grain weight had positive correlation coefficient with grain yield which was almost equal in magnitude with its positive direct effect on this trait. It was revealed from the contribution of individual characters to the variance of yield that the contribution of the characters to the determination of yield was largest for 1000 grain weight followed by number of fertile spikelets per panicle and plant height. The study indicated that selection for higher yield among the maintainer and restorer may be based on 1000-grain weight, number of fertile spikelets per panicle and plant height.
