Most of the agricultural enterprises of the tenth region, include dairy activity as an important part of their operation. Traditionally, decision making in agricultural management is done intuitively, being the general problem how to use resources available in the best possible way. In this sense, there exist different programming methods to improve the agricultural business, among them linear programming, which leads to the optimum organization according to the expected objectives. This work had the objective of maximizing benefits for small agricultural enterprises based on dairy models that could be extrapolated to other farms with similar characteristics. Four farms smaller than 40 ha from Valdivia province, were programmed with three production strategies for each one. Two economic models were obtained, which depend directly on the milk sale price, represented by sales through gathering centers or as individual farms. The analysis showed as a result, that the most profitable strategy is to maintain only productive cows, nevertheless, the strategy more adequated to the economical reality of the small agricultural enterprises is to maintain at least dairy replacements rearing.
