Evaluation of epiphytic bacteria isolated from apple leaves in the control of postharvest apple diseases.
1996
Sobiczewski P. | Bryk H. | Berczynski S.
Of 107 isolates of epiphytic bacteria originating from apple leaves, 13 inhibited in vitro growth of Botrytis cinerea and 13 of Penicillium expansum, but only 6 of them inhibited growth of both pathogens. However, in vitro antifungal activity of a particular isolate has not always corresponded with its ability to control grey and blue molds on apple fruits. Most of the isolates that showed in vitro antifungal activity were not active in vivo. On the other hand, several of the isolates that were not active in vitro provided good protection of stored apples.
