Estudio de la viabilidad de los gazapos durante la lactacion segun un modelo de regresion logistica.

Logistic regression was applied to determine the effects of two strains (New Zealand White and synthetic origins), season of parturition, number of newborn alive and first parturition on the number of young rabbits weaned. Both strains were bred in identical conditions. Viability of young newborn rabbits was different between strains, specially when litter size was large. There was a saturation threshold for 13 and 14 born alive, depending on line, but it was so far from the actual mean values that it allows to select for this character in order to improve the number of young rabbits weaned. The higher the number of born alive, the lower the viability, although up to eight this effect was not very important. Season had a significant effect on full litter losses and first parturition had no effect.
