Laporan berbagai kendala untuk meningkatkan produksi padi gogo di Bengkulu.

To stabilize rice self supporting condition, upland paddy plantation needs to be extended since the area of lowland paddy are decreasing year by year for other non agricultural purposes. There are still idle upland available for rice plantation, while upland rice field in the farmers fields are very low. The low upland paddy yields are due to weather, internal or external constraints. Internal constraints come from outside the farm like drought, flooding, serious pest damage and others which can not be controlled by the farmers. The objective of the study is to identify the internal constraints and it's effect to the upland rice yield. The study was conducted in Kurotidur Agricultural Extension centre working area, North Bengkulu district, using table and regression analysis. The study showed that local variety, low intensity of farmers attending group meeting and not same planting date with the group can cause low yield. Moreover, the main constraint to increase upland paddy yield in Bengkulu were rat and wild pig damage. Because of these damages especially wild pig damage which is difficult to control, farmers do no intend to take risk by using enough amount of inputs especially fertilizer. Therefore, upland paddy yield in the study area is very low.
