Several studies on soil fertility of Mesas Orientales of Venezuela, indicate the importance of sub-surface placing Nitrogen (N) fertilizers. To meet this requirement we can use the point injection of fluid fertilizers technique. This study was done during 1994 in El Tigre, Anzoategui State. The objectives were: - evaluate the use of point injection technique in nitrogen fertilization of corn: - compare this results with the traditional ways of nitrogen application. All Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Magnesium (Mg), and 25 % of the N required were applied, seeding treatments were three different ways of application of the rest of the N required: banded without incorporation, banded incorporated, and point injected. Results indicated higher yields in point injection treatments. Also, these treatments showed the highest values of seed weight and plant height. Soil nitrate content (Hidrazine Method) was highest in point injected treatments. All these results indicate that point injection technology can be recommended for corn nitrogen fertilization in Mesas Orientales of Venezuela.
