Irrigation of soil under maize enabled the production of rather high and stable yields of grain maize during the 5-year period. Both investigated maize genotypes on both localities showed significant increase with the increase crop density, thus the highest yields were obtained with the greatest number of plants per unit of area being 84,033. Quantity of 200 kg of pure nitrogen/ha could be regarded optimum for maize production on chernozem in the conditions of irrigation.
