Thirteen euploid hybrid strains (2n=42), E1-E13, were selected in 57 BC1F5 and BC1F6 hybrid strains derived from the successive self-pollination of (Triticum aestivum cv. Chinese Spring X Hordeum bulbosum) F1 X T. aestivum cv. Chinese Spring monosomic 5B. The morphological observation showed that they were obviously different in characters of spike and adult plant and seedling morphology such as plant height, heading period and so on. Some selections which had useful agronomic characters such as dwarfing, large spike, high protein content, resistance to wheat yellow mosaic virus disease and so on, were obtained. Judging from their meiotic behaviour these specific characters had been introgressed to Chinese Spring through chromosomal substitution (disome and monosome) and translocation of the chromosomes of H. bulbosum.
