An experiment was carried out during the 1989/90 wet season at Cikeumeuh Experimental Farm, Bogor Research Institute for Food Crops (BORIF). Ten varieties including 3 varieties from selection at BORIF and 7 introduced varieties from Bangkok were tested in a randomized block design with 2 replications. Each variety was planted in 2 rows of 5-m long. Distance between rows was 0,75 m and between hills in a row was 0,25 m, one plant/hill. Results of the trial showed that the yield of Suwan 1 was 6,5 t/ha, lower than that of ICS1 P4-G8-Sel 17-H (7,0 t/ha). Suwan 1 had a better husk cover than ICS1 P4-G8-Sel 17-H. There were three introduced corn varieties, i.e : Hoenseangol, Suwon 19 and Yinyuok which had similarities in some character. These characters were the size of ear, colour of seed (yellow), type of seed (dent), red colour of cob, maturing at 90 days, susceptible to rust, and produced lower yield than the other varieties. Among them, Suwon 19 had the best husk cover.
