Respuesta fisiologica al estres calorico del ganado bovino en el Tropico.

In order to evaluate some physiological responses of Bos taurus, Bos indicus and their crosses under tropical environment conditions, a study was carried on at the Tepetates farm of the Colegio de Postgraduados, Veracruz, Mexico. The animal population consisted in 83 bovine females allotted to five different combinations of European x Zebu genotypes. The physiological response was evaluated by the variables hematocrit, hemoglobin content, rectal temperature, respiratory rhythm and intraglobular potassium. The results showed that the females bearing 50 or more of Zebu genotype had a better aptitudes to maintain their own organic equilibrium on the other hand, those beeing 75 % European genotype were in intermediate levels, and finally females bearing 100 % of European genotype showed an incapacity to keep their corporal homeostasis.

Con el objeto de evaluar las respuestas fisiologicas de Ganado Bos taurus, Bos indicus y sus cruzas bajo condiciones tropicales, se realizo un estudio en el Rancho Tepetates del Colegio de Postgraduados, ubicado en el Estado de Veracruz, Mexico. La poblacion bovina consistio de 83 hembras distribuidas en cinco combinaciones de genotipo europeo x cebuino, proporciones en % como sigue: 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 y 0:100. Las respuestas fisiologicas fueron medidas en base al contenido de hematocrito y hemoglobina sanguinea, cambio en temperatura rectal, ritmo respiratorio y potasio intraglobular. Los resultados obtenidos indicaron que aquellas hembras con 50 o mas del genotipo cebuino tuvieron una mejor capacidad para mantener su equilibrio organico; las que poseian 75 de genotipo europeo estuvieron en niveles intermedios y; las hembrs con 100 de genotipo europeo fueron incapaces de conservar su homeostasis.
