Since 1946-78 the number of cows inseminated per year increased from 111 up to 5,370,097 what means inseminating 90% of cow population in Poland. A moderate progress was observed in artificial insemination in pigs, from 960 sows inseminated in 1970 to 177,000 in 1978. Artificial insemination of horses, sheep, fowl and bees did not exceed the experimental or local range.
