To protect land degradation caused by erosion processes, and to improve and increase of farmers income, some soil conservation research have been conducted at the Citanduy watershed since the 1982/1983 wet season. The collected information will be expected to assist in developing the masterplan of Citanduy watershed management. The research results showed that multiple cropping systems was promising in reduce erosion, but in can not be effective in reducing erosion below the soil loss tolerance limit. The use of crops residue as mulch was effective to maintain the soil organic matter content and soil productivity, if the growth of crops was good and produced a lot of green matter. In short term the use of mulch was effective in reducing erosion until 9 percent of slope, while in long term will be effective until 15 percent of slope. For slope more than 9 some additional efforts to prevent the erosion should be done.
