The efficacy of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl for annual grass weed control in bread wheat in northern Tanzania.

Herbicide trials conducted on the wheat farms of Basotu Plantations Ltd. (Hanang Complex) and at the Selian Agricultural Research Institute (Arusha), have shown that fenoxaprop-P-ethyl (Puma Super) is very effective for selective control of lovegrass (Setaria verticillata L. Beauv.) and Digitaria velutina (L.) Beauv. in bread wheat. Even at the lower dose of 0.0345 kg/ha, fenoxaprop-P-ethyl exhibited a high level of efficacy on lovegrass, wild sorghum (Sorghum verticilliflorum L.), Eragrostis aspera L., and Digitaria velutina. The tolerance of wheat to fenoxaprop-P-ethyl was excellent.
