The width of aleuronic layer in winter wheat grains (4 parent varieties and their hybrid F1 and F2 generations) were analysed by secondary fluorescence using a fluorescence microscope. The heterosis effect manifested itself in 50 % of F1 generation hybrids. The value in other hybrids was intermediate or close to the mother variety value. The variability in the followed characteristics was higher in the F2 generation. Besides the intermediate values, some of the hybrids were close to parent varieties, others were above the parents average. The heredity of the wheat aleuronic layer shows hereditary character of quantitative characteristics. The large aleuronic layer lobes lenght in the central cut can be used in the indirect higher gluten and protein content detection (r=0.771++) in the early phases of breeding.
