Comparison study of using agar 6.3 g/l, gellan gum 2.5 g/l, brown rice flour 140 g/l, glutinous rice flour 140 g/l corn flour 120 g/l and rice flour 100 g/l as gelling agent for a modified Vacin and Went medium (1949) was conducted. The largest protocorm-like bodies (plbs) of Rhynchostylis gigantea were found on the medium gelled with gellan gum, brown rice flour and corn flour, while the heaviest plbs were found in medium gelled with corn flour, gellan gum and brown rice flour. Seeding of Vanda lilacina grew best on the medium gelled with brown rice flour.
