The basic aim of the experiments was to interpret the results of microelement analyses carried out in Hungary since 1978 using KCI-EDTA extractant in the light of the Lakanen-Ervio extraction results obtained internationally.The Soil Conservation Information and Monitoring System (TIM) used extraction with concentrated acid for the determination of the total element content and Lakanen-Ervio extractant for the available element content.KCI-EDTA extractant was also used to analyse the Cu, Zn and Mn in the topsoil, but not for the other elements.The results of KCI-EDTA analysis on 11,259 soils samples from Vas County were therefore used in the comparison.This samples originate from different areas than the TIM samples, so they could not be directly compared, but they were of great assistance in estimating trends.
