Mulching and foliar fertilizer (Bayfolan) effect on the growth and bud-take of rubber seedlings [Philippines].
1984
Pales B.V.
The stem diameter of rubber seedlings significantly increased in four to six months consistently giving the biggest stem diameter after mulching the same with African oil palm bagasse. However, the significant increase in stem diameter was not sustained at seven months. Bayfolan foliar fertilizer did not affect the stem diameter. The number of leaf storeys and bud-take percentage were not affected by mulching materials and levels of Bayfolan foliar fertilizer. Mulching materials were not very effective in controlling weeds. Rottboellia exaltata and Cyperus rotundus were found to be more prevalent reaching as many as 32 pieces/m2 area. The species of weed and the number per weed species were not significantly influenced by Bayfolan. Dry weight of weeds is dependent upon the number and type of weed.
