Acute toxicity studies at 27 deg C, 32 deg C and 37 deg C test temperatures were conducted to determine the effect of intermittent chlorine exposed to White sea bass fingerlings (Lates calcarifer Bloch), 2-2.5 cm. and giant prawn larvae (Macrobrachium rosenbergii de man), 2-3 cm. The exposure time was set at forty-five minutes for every eight hour period. The glass aquaria of the size 15 x 25 x 20 cm to the third power were used as test containers. The probit analysis was used to estimate the 48 hour LC50 values for each experiment. The result showed that total residual chlorine (TRC) had higher acute toxicity to giant prawn larvae than to White sea bass fingerlings at the same test temperature. At higher test temperatures the acute toxicity of chlorine to both test animals were increased. The 48 hour LC50 values of chlorine to giant prawn larvae were estimated at 0.242, 0.227 and 0.129 ppm TRC and to White sea bass fingerlings at 0.592, 0.504 and 0.278 ppm TRC at test temperatures of 27 deg C, 32 deg C and 37 deg C respectively.
