The aim of the work was to determine the effect of three planting dates (the third decade of April and the first and second decades of May) and three spacing systems (20, 30, 40 cm) of selected potato cultivars (Bliza, Bogna, Bobr) on the infection of leaves and tubers by Phytophthora infestans. The field experiments were carried out in 1986-87, using the method of randomized sub-blocks in a related design. As a result of experiments it was found that the 20 cm spacing accounted for a significant increase in the infection of tubers of potato by late blight.
