Al Rawi W.M.
This study was conducted to determine the best level of nitrogen fertilizer and plant population density to achieve high yield and quality of Helianthus annuus seeds. Studies included yield, yield components, qualitative characters of seed, and agronomic traits of plants. Results indicated that the best yield of seed (gm/plant) and ton/ha, oil and protein yield leaf area, leaf area index, head diameter and head area index were obtained by using 160 kg N/ha in autumn and 120 kg N/ha in spring season, while high seed weight, protein percentage, lodging percentage and growth season were obtained by adding 160 kg N/ha in both autumn and spring season. It also showed that a high number of seeds per head was obtained by using 120 kg N/ha. The increase in plant population resulted in higher yield ton/ha, oil percentage, oil and protein yield, leaf area index.
