Technical and economic aspects of water quality and land use planning in the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Western Australia: a search for Pareto improvements.
1987
Frahmand M.A.
Observed interactions between landforms, land use patterns and water quality in the Bridgetown-Greenbushes areas supports current explanations for the causes of land and water salinity. Discusses a survey of the impacts of water quality on natural resource use at the enterprise level. The management of farms and other land uses are examined with regard to controlling land and stream salinity. Finally, the thesis considers a number of policy issues at the regional land use planning scale. The major conclusion of the study is that afforestation of the upland lateritic areas of the shire would improve the net present value of the area and result in improved water quality in the future.
