Obatampa, a maize variety was evaluated for water stress and drought tolerance in the major cropping season during the grain filling stage in Ghana. The percentages of water content of leaf, stalk and cob were (55.5-64.8, (71.3-74.7), (85.0-86.5) respectively. Gravimetric analysis of water content of the supporting soil at upper, middle and lower slopes of the field ranged respectively from (4.6-12.6), (6.2-9.4) and (6.2-9.0) per cent. The gram yield was however good.
