Adaptation trials of improved pest management strategies for corn production were conducted in Fanodtalan, Maramag and Cabanbanagan, Valencia, Bukidnon [Philippines] for two cropping seasons in both sites from May 1991 to January 1992. The study aimed to demonstrate the improved technologies in pest management and compare them with traditional farmer's practice. The findings indicated that highest corn grain yield, net benefit (NB) per hectare and net benefit (NB) per peso (P) investment were attained in corn plants (plot) treated with Trichogramma evanescens + detasselling (50-60 DAP/DAS), in adjunct to the basic IPM strategies. Nevertheless, these productivity and benefit indicators were comparatively similar in plants (plots) treated with T. evanescens + Eoconthecona furcellata + detasselling, E. furcellata, T. evanescens, E. furcellata and detasselled plants, in addition to the basic IPM strategies. These treatments mentioned significantly and consistently outperformed the traditional farmer's practice in two research sites. Carbofuran (applied 40-45 DAP/DAS) + methomyl (sprayed 50-55 DAP/DAS) may be used/done but this treatment is relatively expensive.
