Efecto de la remocion superficial sobre la productividad de un suelo agricola en la faja maicera del Yaracuy.

The objective of this work was to determine the loss of soil productivity induced for top soil removal, using corn (Zea mays L. hibrido PB-8) as an indicator crop. The experiment was carried out in a field, the crop was the maize in the area of Yaracuy, soil belonging to the family fine loam, no acid, isohyperthermic of the Oxic-Haplustalfs. The top soil was mechanically removed using a small paddle scraper of 0 %, 50% and 100% depths, taking as the lowest level the upper limit of the argilic horizont. The design of the experiments used was split fringe with three repetitions. The grain yields were not significanty different (P< 0.05) among the three removal classes, however, towards the levels of 50 and 100% it was a yield decrase of 6 and 30% respectively.
