Masalah hama bubuk buah kopi, Hypothenemus hampei Ferr (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) dan usaha pengendaliannya.

Sulistyowati E.
The berry borer, H. hampei, is one of the causes of the productivity decrease, both quantitatively and qualitatively, from plantation to transportation for export. Altitude, shading, and susceptibility of coffee tree are the most affecting factors on the development of berry borer. Up to now the most effective control is plantation sanitation namely picking bored berries, removing all berries on the tree, and collecting fallen berries. A chemical control could be applied but, since most of the pest live in the berries, this method is considered uneconomical. To save the coffee production and to improve the quality and quantity of the product, berry borer control should be done more seriously. It should be simultaneously carried out on the vast area and periodically replicated.
