Feed of weaned pigs of Hungarian large white X duroc and Dutch lowland X duroc genotypes was supplemented by 0.5 mg of selenium, 50, 100 and 150 mg/kg of vitamin E, as well as by 2.5 and 5 mg of riboflavin/kg of feedstuff. Vitamin E concentration of blood serum and the selenium content of liver in pigs showed a positive correlation with the grade of feed supplementation. The surplus quantity of selenium, vitamin E and riboflavin uptaken by the feed did not modify the body mass gain of pigs and differences could not be observed in the adrenocortical function of control and experimental groups. Feed supplementation resulted in an increased antibody production against horse gamma globulin, however, that was not significant, as compared to the controls. Increased selenium, vitamin E and riboflavin contents of feed enhanced the ratio of rosetta forming cells, as well as that of cells showing blastogenic transformation after induction by specific antigen or by nonspecific mitogen, as compared to the controls. The cytotoxic reaction was more favourable in the experimental groups, however the results of intradermal phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) test did not differ from that of controls.
