Hallayuchae was developed from a cross between Mangun Local/Bronowsik//Erra and Tower at Mokpo Branch Station, Crops Experiment Station in 1985. This variety was similar to Naehanyuchae cultivar in morphological characteristics and has been identified to have fairly good agronomic characteristics such as many valuable branches, long pod length and many pods. It was also highly resistant to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and lodging. This variety possesses no erucic acid and low glucosinolate content. It outyielded Naehanyuchae by 17 % in the 3 year's regional yield trials carried out at 6 locations from 1983 to 1985, and can be grown in the southern area, especially Cheju Province.
