Study on utilization of pigeonpea seed was conducted in 36 crossbred pigs (Large White x Landrace x Duroc). They were divided into 2 experiments. Experiment 1. Four crossbred barrows (av. 27.8 kg.) were used in the digestibility trial of pigeonpea seed. Individual pigs were fed in 2 x 2.5 square m concrete-floored pen. Calculation by fecal total collection, digestibities of nutrients were as follows: DM 76.65 %, CP 60.91 %, CF 31.65 %, Ash 60.49 % and NFE 89.04 %. Experiment 2. Thirty-two crossbred pigs (av. 15.23 kg) were used in completely Randomized Design (CRD). Pigs in treatment 1. were fed with control feed without pigeonpea meal. In treatment 2, 3 and 4 pigs were fed with pigeonpea meal at 10, 20 and 30 % respectively. The data from growth performance showed that pigs fed on pigeonpea meal had lower performance than those fed on control feed (P<0.01). The growth performance was decreased with the increased level of pigeonpea meal in the rations. Carcass characteristics were not significantly different (P>0.05) among treatments except carcass length in Treatment 1. was longer than other treatments (P<0.05). Therefore, production of growth inhibitors in the seed and feed cost should be considered for the utilization of pigeonpea seed in pig feed.
