Experiments described were conducted at Phrae Rice Research Center, Pan and Sanpatong Rice Experiment Stations to determine an appropriate bed widths for furrow irrigation on wheat after rice in 1986/87. Samoeng 2 (Sonora 64) was sown on various bed widths 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 meters. Soil was different in texture at each sites, such as Phrae and Sanpatong were Sandy Clay Loam, whereas pan was Clay. Phrae Rice Research Center results showed that 2.5 m. bed width gave the highest grain yield, furthermore on of spike per square meter was dominated but 1000 grains weight and number of seed per spike were not affected by bed width. Pan results showed 2.5 m. bed width trend to give the highest grain yield but 1,000 grains weight and number of seed per spike showed non significant difference. Sanpatong result gave the lowest yield. The problem was not investigated but volunteer rice and weed might cause this effect. Labor consumption consideration found that bigger bed width required more labour than the smaller ones respectively.
