The food and seasonal pattern of feeding of the freshwater snakeheaded fish, Channa qachua (Hamilton) was studied from 3 ponds of Shahzadpur. The fish is predominantly carnivorous and consumed mainly insects (19.21%), crustaceans (21.03%), molluscs (11.19%), debris (24.09%), annelids (12.51%), fishes (4.56%), semidigested matter (3.26%), myriapods (3.11%) and plants and detritus (1.04%). The fish changes its food habit with the change in season and it preferred to feed on insects, molluscs, plants and detritus in summer and debris and crustaceans in winter.
