This study was conducted in order to find an environmentally friendly control method in controlling insect pests. In this experiment, the effect of mating disruption pheromone to the population development of Spodoptera litura (F.), Helicoverpa armigera (Hbn.), Crocidolomia binotalis Zell. and Plutella xylostella (L.) was observed. This experiment was carried out from the end of May to October 2002 by wrapping the pheromones on bamboo sticks of 1 m length and set in a 20 ha of vegetable crop area. A total of about 5000 bamboo sticks were required in this experiment. In order to observed the population development of the insects, the box and glue traps were used. The results of this experiment showed that the mating disruption pheromone significantly reduced the population of S. litura, H. armigera, C. binotalis, but did not significantly reduce the population of P. xylostella.
