The assessment of the effect of fertilization on yielding and contents of selected macro- and microelements (nitrogen, sulphur, magnesium, copper and zinc) in the spring wheat yield was conducted in a three-year field experiment. Wheat fertilization with sulphur (irrespective of the applied fertilizer) caused a significant increase in yields of wheat grain in comparison with the yields from the treatment where solely nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was used in the third year of the investigations. Irrespective of the applied fertilization, the greatest straw yield was gathered in the first year of the research, which unfavourably affected the value of grain yield to straw yield ratio. Sulphur fertilization introduced on the treatments NPK+S(S) and NPK+S(P), both in grain and straw caused a marked increase in nitrogen content as compared with this component content assessed in the biomass of plants not fertilized with sulphur. Sulphur content in grain and straw from the treatments where fertilization with this element was used did not differ in comparison with the content determined in wheat biomass from the object where sulphur was not applied. A significant diversification in the value of N:S ratio was observed. The highest values of this parameter in grain and straw were obtained on the treatments where wheat was fertilized with NPK+S. Due to high soil abundance in magnesium, practically no differences in this component content in wheat biomass from individual treatments were found. Considering the fodder value a deficient copper content was noted both in wheat straw and grain, whereas zinc content ranged within the optimal content values
