This paper presents the results of research on the possibilities of applying diatomic earth in the reduction of diesel oil and petrol influence on catalase and peroxidase activity. Measurements were made on soil from the arable humus horizon of salty sandy loam with 1,2 percent humus content. The results show the increase of the activity of both enzymes after the addition of an absorbent (diatomic earth) into soil contaminated with oil derivates, especially in the last phase of the experiment. The effect was much more visible in the case of diesel oil than petrol. Moreover there is possibility of applying diatomic earth in the reduction of the influence of oil compounds on the enzymatic activity in the soil environment
