The region of Shumen is one of the centers of hunting tourism in Bulgaria. Hunting tourism is a type of alternative tourism. Its development enriches the choice of tourist services and contributes to attracting more tourists. Hunting tourism in the area has gone through different stages which followed the general trends for the country and its established traditions. Essential for game diversity is the specificity of natural conditions in the area. Shumen region has significant areas of state owned forests and existing accommodation base. The main factors for the development of hunting tourism are the state hunting reserves. This report examines the existing hunting reserves on the territory of the Shumen region and the development of hunting tourism in them.
