Ultrasonography is a diagnostic technique that is developing very quickly and has much to offer to veterinary practitioners, devoted to reproduction of domestic animals. Ultrasound scanning plays a key role in documenting normal physiological events, as well as in diagnosing pregnancy and determining its stages. In addition, it is particularly suitable for the detection of pathological changes in the reproductive tract both in females and males, which may be manifested with changes in size, shape or margination or internal architecture of reproductive organs. Non-invasive nature of ultrasound diagnosis and its easy performance contributes to the rapid diagnosis and monitoring of response to the applied therapy, with the possibility for changes in therapy during the treatment.
