Availability, scalability, reliability and productivity of modern agricultural engineering, maintenance costs, energy costs and the costs of agricultural production depend on the intensity of gear wear. as an element of many tribo-mechanical systems in agriculture. During the design and production of gears it is very imprtant to consider all aspects of tribology, as errors in design and production cannot correct even ideally organized maintenance. Tribological properties of the material of one element of tribo-mechanical system were determined by type and feature of the other two elements of tribomechanical system, and also by the environment in which the contact is achieved. Hob milling tool is mostly applied in the treatment of spur gear tooth for a modern agricultural engineering through the high productivity process. Complicated kinematic and geometrical relationships between the tool and workpiece causing a number of difficulties that prevent optimal use of hob milling tool and hob milling machine, or they hinder the optimization of the entire treatment process of tooth of spur gears. These difficulties are manifested through the lack of stability of integral hob milling tools of high-speed steel. In this paper, based on the analysis of complex process of treatment of spur gears tooth in real conditions, comparative experimental study of cutting capability of various types and geometries of hob milling tools was performed. For real values of tooth wear, designed hob milling tools with inserted blades have tool life increased by 63.3% and reducing the costs of tooth processing operations by 25.5% compared to integral hob milling tools.
