Elastomeric (elastane) yarns are mainly produced as two-layer coated yarns due to a better balance and covering. Their imperfection is related to the softness of the elastane thread, which comes to the surface after some time due to the damage of the covering layer and the age of textile product. For this reason, the aim of this work is to examine the quality of the coated elastomeric yarns of different raw and structural composition. For preparing filaments for coating and producing final product in this kind of the spinning mill, the modern machines of the Italian producer 'Menegato' were used. The yarns were made of elastane and rubber threads, coated with polyester and polyamide filaments. With the aim of determining the quality of these yarns in terms of structural and raw composition, linear density, threadness, breaking force and stretch break. A special emphasis is put on the flexibility, as the most important parameter of the quality of this kind of yarns considering their specific purpose. The result of the research have shown that the quality of elastomeric yarns is influenced, besides technical-technological conditions of production, by the structure of the components used (the number and the direction of whorls, the number and fineness of the filaments in the multifilament) and their raw composition.
