Sources of pollution of the environment caused by human activity are concentrated in small areas, around bigger cities, industrial regions, major traffic lines, etc. Plant have very important role in the cycle of heavy metals in nature and they are very sensitive indicator of environment pollution. In this work there has been examined content of the heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Mn) in the soil and plant mass in the weeds near highway Skopje - Veles (Republic of Macedonia), and weeds in lucern plantation. The results of the examination indicate that the examined heavy metals in the examined soil and biomass of weeds in the lucern plantation are present in the tolerable limits. Total content of the heavy metals in the biomass of the weeds near the highway is above critical concentration of heavy metals
