Effect of polymer-coated fertilizer on nitrogen and sulphur in soil and in aboveground dry matter biomass of strawberry (variety of Sonata) as well as the yield of fruits and their quality (vitamin C, nitrates) was investigated in small-plot field experiment in 2009-2010. There were examined three treatments in the experiment: 1st treatment-unfertilized control, 2nd treatment-application of 1,65 g N per pot in the form of polymer-coated fertilizer and 3rd treatment-the same rate of N per pot (1,65 g N) in the form of soluble fertilizer. Fertilizers were applied in two terms: in autumn and in spring, respectively. Polymer-coated fertilizer (Duslocote) provided strawberries with adequate nutrition during the whole growing season resulting in higher yield of mature fruits in comparison to soluble fertilizer (Duslofert Extra). Content of N and S in soil and also in DM of aboveground biomass was higher when Duslocote was applied. Duslocote reduced both content of nitrates in fruits by 3-4% (insignificantly) and content of vitamin C by 11% (significant difference, but only when Duslocote was applied in autumn).
