The screening of extracts of the flowers, stems, leaves, and roots of crossings Echinacea species breeded in Seva Flora Valtice Ltd. [Company, Czech Republic] were compared by the content of cichoric acid, echinacosid and alkamides. The content of these active constituents was determined using HPLC method for analysis of caffeic acids and alkamides in plant parts and products of Echinacea ssp. which was newly developed and validated by Molgaard. The better results in concentration of active compounds (cichoric acid and echinacoside) have shown the extracts from plant material - above ground part of these crossings. The highest concentration of alkamide 2 (3.38 plus minus 0.31 mg per ml) was determined only in root extracts from two years old plant material of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench x Echinacea angustifolia DC. var angustifolia crossing.
