This paper deals with the theoretical background of the nature and existence of the market with services. It uses the basis theories - economy of natural resources, theory of property rights and theory of transaction costs to explain the nature of the firms and performance on the market. In details, it describes the specifics of provided services and factors infiuencing decision making about services. Additionally, this paper presents a research methodology, particularly aimed at a standardised interview which shall be used for the analysis of demand and supply side of the service market in the forestry sector in Slovakia.
