History of yield tables in Slovakia started by introducing German tables. German tables were modified according to the natural conditions in Slovakia and they started to be used until the beginning of the 90 s of the past century. Since 1965 a long-term research programme was implemented that was aimed at construction of Czechoslovakian yield tables from domestic empirical material. Yield tables for spruce, fir, pine, oak and beech were the result of that research. Later there were constructed also original yield tables for popiar clones Robusta and 1-214. At the same time yield tables of other tree species constructed by several national and foreign authors were modified. Since 1992 there have been used successfully in forestry practice of Slovakia yield tables for all 15 tree species. There were constructed also assortment and value tables for 10 commercially most significant tree species to evaluate production of forest stands. This system of yield tables is significant background and tool for logging and time arrangement of forests.
