This paper deals with the evaluation of gaps in a spruce-beech natural forest on limestone bedrock in the National Nature Reserve Skalná Alpa. Data were collected using the Field. Map on two permanent research plots (PRP) with sizes of 50 x 150 m each. We measured 23 gaps locate within the PRPs. We distinguished between open and expanded gaps. Gap area, number of gapmakers and gapmakers decay classes were evaluated for each gap. The summary area of open and expanded gaps is 2 485.1 m2 and 6 704.6 m2, respectively. Individual open gap area ranged between 9.5 m2 and 461.1 m2, whereas the individual expanded gap area ranged from 56 m2 to 895.2 m2. Sixty-three gapmakers participated in the formation of gaps. Species composition of gapmakers was beech approx. 90%, spruce approx. 8% and maple 2%.
