إنجليزي. Drying is the process of reducing initial high moisture content of agricultural products to the final moisture content (9-11 %, wb) which permits the long term storage of those products. The selection of an appropriate drying method is the most important stage of successful drying process. The main goal of successful drying of medicinal and aromatic plants is to dry them in a possible shortest time with minimum energy consumption and high product quality retention.

Tıbbi ve aromatik bitkiler için uygun kurutma yönteminin seçimi, başarılı kurutma için en önemli aşamadır. Tıbbi ve aromatik bitkilerin, kalitesel özelliklerini (renk ve uçucu yağ oranı) bozmadan en kısa sürede ve en az enerji tüketimiyle kurutulması başarılı kurutmanın temelidir. Bu çalışmada aromatik bitkilerden bir tanesi olan reyhan (Ocimum basilicum L), döner tamburlu kurutucuda ve farklı kurutma şartlarında kurutulmuştur.
