Poland - Szczecin-Swinoujscie Seaway and Port Modernization Project

The Szczecin-Swinoujscie Seaway and Port Modernization Project aims to promote Poland's trade by developing an efficient administrative/managerial structure and improving physical facilities in the main ports of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Szczecin-Swinoujscie. The project has four components. 1) Physical Modernization of Szczecin-Swinoujscie Seaway will include strengthening the banks of parts of the channel over a total length of 2,600 meters on both sides, rebuilding intermediate breakwaters, establishing containment areas for dredged materials in the vicinity of Szczecin, and providing technical assistance to define and implement environmentally sound dredging methods. 2) Maritime Office Szczecin (MOS) Technical Assistance and Training will provide for technical assistance and training to help MOS define and implement environmentally sound dredging methods. 3) Szczecin-Swinoujscie Seaport Authority: Katowice Peninsula will include land preparation and construction of berthing facilities to provide additional operational space to be leased out to private enterprises and operators, for cargo handling, storage, and packaging facilities, mainly for industrial bulks. 4) Szczcin-Swinoujscie Seaport Authority: Grabowski Island will include land preparation and construction of berthing facilities to provide additional operational space to be leased out to private enterprises and operators.
