Summary of investment climate assessment for Burkina Faso

This report analyzes the current situation of the investment climate in Burkina Faso to contribute to the ongoing discussion on the development of the private sector in the country. Findings from this report suggest that firms in Burkina Faso operate within a correct macroeconomic environment. However, recent analysis of firm productivity levels underlines the ongoing weakness of firms within an increasingly competitive global environment and some investment climate restraints persist. The main obstacles to a good investment climate are: corruption, lack of adequate infrastructure, regulatory constraints (including taxes and tariffs), and weakness in the labor market. The report gives recommendations and conclusions on what reforms to take to alleviate these obstacles.
