The purpose of this report is to clarify the dearth of data on values of international transport services. The International Monetary Fund's Balance of Payments statistics were considered to be the best source to start from given that they compile the payments for (debits) and receipts from (credits) of: (a) internationally traded freight services; (b) some of the traded inputs and interntional passenger travel; and (c) related expenditures under travel and tourism accounts. The main contributions of this report are thus considered to be the estimated data and the clarification of the balance of payments coverage of international transport and the summary of the statistical estimates and the meaning of transport accounts in balances of payments, which is the source of the estimates.
