Use the composite hybrid method for revigorate of the Ha Bac 1 (HB1) yam bean variety

To help farmers to produce yam bean composite hybrid seeds of the Ha Bac 1 yam bean variety which name is HB1-HLCL, the guidance of farmers to produce HB1-HLCL yam bean seeds from 2003 to now has been conducted. In two years 2008 and 2009, the comparative results between the isolated hybrid and natural hybrid areas of HB1 yam bean shown that: HB1-HLCL hybrid variety attained the average branch 1 number of 3.32 - 3.36 branch per plant and the average seed weight of 0.36kg per plant are highest and higher than HB1-HLTN of 3.02 - 3.17 branch and 0.33 - 0.35kg seeds per plant. The HB1-HLCL hybrid variety has the very close favourable correlation between the average branch 1 number wit the average seeds weight/plant (r = 0.957 - 0.988) is the highest and higher than HB1-HLTN (r = 0.687 - 0.806). In two years 2009 and 2010, production of two varieties of HB1-HLCL and HB1 - HLTL with CR control variety from China shown that: HB1-HLCL has the average yield of two years are the highest (40.37 - 40.60 ton root per ha) and higher than two varieties of HB1-HLTN and CR (38.64-38.99 ton root per ha) at confident 95%. In addition, HB1-HLCL has close favourable correlation between branch 1 number with the average root yield in two years are high (r = 0.8725 - 0.8836) and higher than two varieties HB1-HLTN and CR (r = 0.613 - 0.651 and r = 0,7297 - 0,7309). The above results shown: HB1-HLCL hybrid seeds has good quality and for F1 hybrid progeny are better vigous, identical and root yield is higher than two varieties of HB1-HLTN and CR at confident 95%.
