Manglietia forrestii W.W. Smith ex Dandy and M.ventii N.V.Tiep, well-known species in south west Guangxi, southern and western Yunnan and sout-east Yunnan, respectively, were recorded in Vietnam without information of distribution, collection or herbarium. By examining specimens of Petelot 8888, Poilane 21816, Schmid s.n. (P) all from Blao station, Lam Dong province, southern Vietnam and Petelot 4161 (P) from Sapa district, Lao Cai province and together with careful comparation with the types and authenticated specimens in IBSC, K and PE, the author redescribed both species from herbarium specimens collected from Vietnam and added more information of distribution, herbarium collection and ecology. Manglietia forrestii is most closely related to M.fordiana Oliver, but it differs from the latter by its indumentums. In the latter species, the branchlets and peduncles are glabrous or the first shortly pubescent and then soon glabrescent, the leaves are not so conspicuously strigose beneath. M.ventii, a remarkable species differs from all other species by having mature carpels narrowly ellipsoid, beak rather long, basalmost carpels densely yellow pubescent especially toward base, basally decurrent along torus.
