Sowing of maize in combs uses for better ensure the corn plant moisture, air and heat. In primary growth period of maize close contact of the seeds with soil is necessary. Quick warming of the soil during spring period supplies advantageous conditions for water, warm and feeding regimes formation and protects the seeds from soaking and decay during rainy weather. In RUE «SPC NAS Belarus for mechanization of agriculture» has been developed comb- forming device to cross-opener planter drill seed STV-8KU, providing better conditions for seed germination and plant growth and helping to reduce the number of manufacturing operations. Experiments have been carries out according the following scheme: 8-raw precision seed drill have been equipped with comb-forming device on four central seeding apparatus. These devices realize sowing process in the combs, and four outer devices (2 at each side) execute smooth sowing. The scheme of the experimental field presents 4 comb-formed rows and 4 plain rows. Measuring of vegetating plants has been made during the experiment, mathematical analysis of the data has been carried out. The most important advantages of application of comb-forming device while cultivation of maize are enumerated and analyzed.
